SFN Group revenue up 26%

Second-quarter revenue at SFN Group Inc. (NYSE: SFN) rose 25.6% from the year-ago quarter to $514.0 million.

Revenue in the Fort Lauderdale FL-based staffing company's professional services unit rose 36.7% to $250.1 million with a boost from its acquisition in the first quarter of Tatum LLC. Tatum is an Atlanta-based firm that provides chief financial officer staffing as well as CFO-related services and consulting.

Second-quarter revenue at SFN by professional skill increased in all segments:
-Finance/accounting rose 90.2% year-over-year to $43.1 million
-Information technology rose 13.1% to $127.0 million
-Administration rose 20.3% to $15.0 million
-Other professional rose 83.1% to $65.1 million.

Outside of professional, SFN's clerical staffing revenue rose 1.6% to $141.8 million and light industrial revenue rose 40.9% to $122.1 million.

SFN's second-quarter gross margin improved to 20.5% from 20.3% in the year-ago quarter.

Net income rose to $2.7 million in the second quarter from $287,000 in the same period a year ago.
