SCI taps Guidant Group for MSP, VMS

October 05, 2010

Guidant Group was hired to manage the North American contingent labor program at Service Corporation International, a provider of funeral, cremation and cemetery services. SCI has more than 22,000 employees, 2,000 locations and 400 cemeteries through the U.S. and Canada.

SCI's contingent management program includes 1099s, temporaries, independent contractors and statement-of-work contracts.

Guidant Group will act as a managed service provider as well as provide its vendor management system.

"The contingent labor program we were looking to create wasn't yet on anyone's radar at SCI," said Mendy Hovan, talent acquisition specialist at SCI. "Our team knew the solution involved selecting a top-notch managed service provider and vendor management system."

The request for proposal from SCI to potential providers contained several steps, including site visits to corporate headquarters of potential providers.

"SCI grouped the RFP responses to create focus areas we scored, such as, pricing, account management, customer service and the footprint of the provider based on the needs of SCI," Hovan said. "The site visits were extremely insightful: we got to see 'behind the curtain' and this allowed us to evaluate information received from the RFP and see how in tune the various companies were to our unique program and goals."

Guidant Group is part of the Impellam Group PLC.
