Canada's government spending on temporary employment services rose 178% to C$299 million over the last 10 years in comparison to a 35.5% increase in overall government spending, according to a report released Tuesday. But some of that temp use may be improper, it said.
The Public Service Commission of Canada "is concerned that some temporary help is being used improperly, in a way that circumvents the [Public Service Employment Act]," said commission President Maria Barrados.
Staffing Industry Analysts prepared a Briefing on the report for corporate members.
