Randstad: Advancing technology drives collaboration

September 26, 2014

Most employees, 60 percent, indicate they work better in a team than they do individually, and roughly the same number of respondents, 61 percent, report they now spend more time on collaborating with colleagues than they did five years ago, according to findings from Randstad’s latest Global Workmonitor survey.

This percentage is expected to increase, as 87 percent agreed that the importance of collaboration is growing with the advancement of technology.

Randstad’s Global Workmonitor survey also found an increase in the number of employees who expect to find another job within six months. The mobility index rose one point since the last quarter to 110. The mobility index is rising steadily over time, its lowest point in two years being 106 in 2012.

Overall, 24 percent of the employees worldwide actually changed jobs in the last six months, with about half of those change jobs within the same company.

Mobility in Canada and the US remained relatively flat, while the Mexican index fell by 5 points.
