Oklahoma City posts lowest jobless rate

The Oklahoma City OK metropolitan area posted the lowest jobless rate, 6.0%, in December among all U.S. metropolitan areas with populations of 1 million or more, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

Next lowest was the Washington DC area with a jobless rate of 6.2%.

The large metropolitan area with the highest unemployment rate was Detroit at 14.9% in December. The Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario area in Southern California had the next highest at 14.0%.

Among metropolitan areas of all sizes, Southern California's El Centro metropolitan area registered the highest unemployment rate in December at 27.7%. The Fargo ND area had the lowest jobless rate at 4.0%.
