Nevada posts highest jobless rate in August

Nevada reported the highest jobless rate among all states for the fourth month in a row in August with an unemployment rate of 14.4% -- up from 14.3% in July, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

Michigan recorded the second-highest jobless rate among states in August at 13.1%. It was followed by California at 12.4%.

North Dakota reported the lowest unemployment rate among all states in August at 3.7%. South Dakota and Nebraska came next at 4.5% and 4.6%, respectively.
