Netherlands – Staffing industry growth led by technical sector

The number of hours worked by temporary workers in the Netherlands increased by +9% during period eight (21 July – 17 August) compared with the same period last year, according to the latest figures from the Dutch Federation of Employment Agencies (ABU). Sales during the period increased by +8%, compared with last year.

This growth follows increases of +6% in the number of hours worked in period seven and +8% in period six. Sales during the previous period increased by +6%, year-on-year, following growth of +8% in period six.

  • The number of hours worked in the administrative sector during period eight increased by +7%, year-on-year, with sales also increasing by +6%.
  • In the industrial sector, the number of hours worked rose by +9%, while sales rose by +8%, year-on-year.
  • The number of hours worked in the technical sector rose by +16%, compared with last year, with sales rising by +12%.     

Every four weeks ABU members deliver their sales and working hours figures to TNS-NIPO. This is called the ABU-Marktmonitor. The monitor represents more than 60% of the total staffing industry in the Netherlands.
