September 15, 2015

Millennials reported falling victim to job scams at higher rates than seniors, according to the results of a FlexJobs survey released today. The survey found 20% of millennial respondents aged 20 to 29 have been scammed, compared to only 13% of senior respondents aged 60 to 69.

In total, 17% of job seekers of all ages have reported being a victim of a job scam at least once.

A third, 33%, of respondents stated that they were “very concerned” about job scams during their search, 48% stated that they were “on guard” during their job search, and 5% said they have never seen a scam.

There are about 60 to 70 job scams for every one legitimate job posting, according to FlexJobs.

The survey included more than 2,600 respondents.
