Monster’s employment index of online job posting activity in the U.S. increased to a reading of 158 in November, up two points from October’s reading, Monster Worldwide Inc. reported. The index is up 11 points, or 7 percent, from its November 2011 reading.

Fourteen of the 19 industries monitored for the index showed annual growth. Top industries include retail trade, up 16 percent; real estate and rental and leasing, up 14 percent; construction, up 13 percent; transportation and warehousing, up 13 percent; and administrative, support and waste management, up 12 percent.

The index is based on a review of online job ads taken from a selection of websites, including Monster.com.
