Mississippi, Nevada post highest jobless rates in January

Mississippi and Nevada posted the highest unemployment rates among all states in January at 7.1% each, according to data released today by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Louisiana and California followed, at 7.0% and 6.9% respectively.

The District of Columbia had a rate of 7.7%.

North Dakota again posted the lowest unemployment rate in January at 2.8%.

The national jobless was little changed from December at 5.7% and was 0.9 percentage points lower than in January 2014.
