Medrec acquires Complete Medical Staffing

September 08, 2010

Medrec Inc., a San Antonio-based healthcare staffing firm, acquired Complete Medical Staffing and California Medical Staffing, two firms who shared the same management.

CMS President Michael Jordan will join Medrec as director of nursing and nationwide travel, to grow the nursing business as well as Medrec's division of nationwide travel which provides physical, occupational and speech therapy staffing.

"This merger meshes two very specific staffing firms in our industry of highly specialized recruitment, staffing and consulting for physical, occupational and speech therapists," said Medrec President and CEO Peter Knight-Sheen. "Medrec has been staffing at healthcare facilities around the country for 36 years, and CMS is a valued 11-year-veteran in our industry. CMS President Michael Jordan has worked in therapy staffing for the last 18 years and his network, skills and knowledge will prove invaluable for Medrec's future growth."

Medrec focuses on therapy staffing and has four service lines -- nationwide travel, local (per diem), full-time local contract and direct hire. The CMS name will remain and it will focus on nurse staffing including travel and per diem.

With the acquisition, Medrec will have more than 250 internal and external employees, physical occupational therapists and nurses. It will also have five branch offices in San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Chicago and Denver.

Terms of the transaction were not announced.
