Medical Staffing Network exits bankruptcy

September 30, 2010

Medical Staffing Network Healthcare LLC, the fourth-largest U.S. healthcare staffing firm, is no longer under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

"We, as a company, can now operate from a more solid foundation, offering more flexible service options for our clients and better job opportunities to our healthcare professionals," Chairman and CEO Robert Adamson said in an announcement Wednesday.

The company had been publicly traded but was sold to its first-lien creditors in bankruptcy court. A judge signed an order in August to authorize the sale. First-lien creditors were owed $98.8 million by Medical Staffing Network and they bid $84.1 million of the amount owed to acquire the company.

Boca Raton FL-based Medical Staffing Network filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on July 2.

In addition to healthcare staffing, the company also operated the OneSource vendor management system.

Medical Staffing Network first announced in March that bankruptcy might be a possibility after a default on debt. The company said in April it hired Mohsin Meghji of Loughlin Meghji + Company, to serve as chief restructuring officer.
