Median third-quarter wage is $720

Full-time workers in the United States had weekly median earnings of $720 in the third quarter of 2008, up 3.6% from the third quarter of last year, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

Full-time workers over 25 years old without high school diplomas had weekly median earnings of $471 compared with $618 for high school graduates with no college. Those with at least a bachelor's degree reported a median wage of $1,131 a week.

Women who usually worked full-time had median weekly earnings of $631 per week, or 79.3% of the $796 median for men.
