MSN buys medical staffer and VMS

September 17, 2007

Medical Staffing Network Holdings Inc. (NYSE: MRN) has acquired AMR ProNurse, a Chicago medical staffing and VMS company, for $11.0 million in cash. AMR ProNurse provides nurses, allied healthcare and other medical professionals in the Chicago area and operates the OneSource VMS program.

"We believe that the addition of AMR's VMS portfolio, in addition to our current book of VMS business, will establish Medical Staffing Network as one of the largest providers of healthcare staffing vendor management solutions," Robert Adamson, MSN's chairman and CEO, said.

Adamson also said AMR's management will remain with the company.

MSN, of Boca Raton FL, is the largest provider of per diem nurses in the country. On July 2, MSN closed an earlier deal to buy InteliStaf Holding Inc. of Oakbrook Terrace IL for $92 million. MSN ranked No. 4 on Staffing Industry Analysts' list of top healthcare staffing providers, based on 2006 revenue; InteliStaf ranked No. 6.
