MRINetwork founder dies

November 27, 2013

The founder and chairman emeritus of MRINetwork, Alan Schonberg, died Nov. 15 at age 85. MRINetwork, a subsidiary of CDI Corp. (NYSE: CDI), is the largest provider of direct hire staffing in the U.S., according to the company.

Schonberg founded MRINetwork in 1965, providing search and recruitment services for mid- to upper-level executives and professionals. The company eventually franchised its business model and Philadelphia-based CDI Corp. acquired all outstanding shares of MRINetwork in 1972 to make it a fully owned subsidiary.

Schonberg was MRINetwork’s CEO for 35 years; he left the post in 2000 when he became chairman, and three years later, chairman emeritus.
