AMN Healthcare Services Inc. (NYSE: AHS), CHG Healthcare Services and Jackson Healthcare ranked as the three largest healthcare staffing firms, according to Staffing Industry Analysts’ 2012 list of largest healthcare staffing firms.

“In an effort to reveal more of the market landscape, this year’s report includes firms that generated more than $25 million in staffing revenue in any of the healthcare sub-segments,” said Research Analyst Timothy Landhuis. “Last year, the threshold was $50 million.  As a result, this year’s lists feature the 17 largest allied health staffing firms, the 14 largest travel nurse staffing firms, the seven largest per diem nurse staffing firms, and the seven largest locum tenens staffing firms.”

By segment, CHG ranked as the largest locum tenens staffing firm, and Maxim Healthcare Services ranked as the largest per diem nursing firm. Jackson Healthcare ranked as the largest allied healthcare staffing provider.

AMN ranked as the largest travel nurse staffing firm.

“Noteworthy was the strong 2011 revenue figures reported on the list of largest staffing firms in the travel nurse segment, which prompted us to increase our market size estimate,” Landhuis said. “As a result, we now estimate the 2012 travel nurse market at $1.5 billion (up from $1.3 billion) and the 2012 total healthcare staffing segment at $9.3 billion (up from $9.2 billion.)”
