Las Vegas metro area posts highest jobless rate in March

The Las Vegas metropolitan area posted the highest unemployment rate in March, 7.2%, among all large metropolitan areas with populations of 1 million or more, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

The lowest jobless rate among large metropolitan areas in March was found in the Austin-Round Rock area in Texas and Oklahoma City, Okla., both at 3.3%.

Among metropolitan areas of all sizes, El Centro, Calif., posted the highest jobless rate in March at 19.9%.

Ames, Iowa, and Lincoln, Neb., posted the lowest unemployment rates at 2.3% each.
