Labor Smart acquires Kwik Jobs

September 29, 2014

Labor Smart Inc. (OTCBB: LTNC), a provider of industrial staffing serving the southeastern US, acquired the operating assets of Kwik Jobs Inc. and its two branches located in Alabama and Georgia. Kwik Jobs targets general contractors and related companies.

The acquisition documents were signed Friday and Labor Smart took possession of the assets today; terms of the all-cash acquisition were not disclosed.

Kwik Jobs’ branches will be rebranded as Labor Smart immediately. No executives were retained, but all key operations and sales staff will remain.

Kwik Jobs’ Alabama office will be consolidated with Labor Smart’s existing office in Birmingham, Ala., over the coming months, according to Labor Smart President and CEO Ryan Schadel.

“We also intend to close our existing Houston office as it has not performed up to our expectations,” Schadel said. “Our intent to re-enter the Texas market by way of acquisition in the near future.”

The company has significantly slowed its planned organic branch expansion as part of a previously announced strategy shift but will aggressively pursue acquisitions that fit its business model and culture, according to Schadel.

“We have very specific criteria for our acquisitions, and Kwik Jobs fit that criteria extremely well,” he said.

The acquisition is expected to add between $2 million and $2.7 million in revenue in 2015.

Labor Smart this month reported second-quarter revenue of $6.4 million in April, up from $4.0 million in the second quarter of last year. The firm has 31 branch offices and provides skilled and unskilled labor.
