Jobs site reports openings down for month

U.S. job openings fell by 4 percent month-over-month December, but year-over-year job openings rose 40.9 percent, according to Simply Hired’s January 2013 Employment Outlook released today. Agriculture and manufacturing roles experienced the largest amounts of growth month-over-month, while healthcare continued to count the most available job openings.

Job openings increased in seven out of 18 industries in December, according to Simply Hired, a search engine for online job ads. Agriculture at 32.8 percent and manufacturing at 14.3 percent posted the largest gains, while media reported the largest decrease during the month, falling 11.6 percent.
