The number of U.S. initial claims for unemployment benefits fell 8.3% to 522,000 in the week ended July 11 from the previous week's revised number of 569,000, the U.S. Department of Labor reported today. The four-week moving average of claims fell 3.7% to 584,500 from the previous week's revised average of 607,000.
