Jobless Claims Average Rises by 1,750

The four-week moving average of initial unemployment claims rose to 377,750 in the week ended June 2, an increase of 1,750 from the previous week’s revised average of 376,000, according to seasonally adjusted numbers released today by the U.S. Department of Labor.

The four-week moving average reduces the volatility of the weekly numbers. Total initial claims were 377,000, a decrease of 12,000 from the previous week’s revised figure of 389,000.
