April 25, 2011

The Technisource IT Employee Confidence Index dipped 1.9 points to a reading of 56.3 in the first quarter of 2011. According to the index’s survey, 33 percent of information technology workers believe the economy is getting stronger, down four percentage points from the fourth quarter of 2010.

Eighteen percent said they were likely to lose their jobs in the next year, up from eight percent in the fourth-quarter survey.

However, 21 percent believe there are more jobs available, up from 18 percent in the previous quarter.

The survey was part of a broader survey conducted online within the United States by Harris Interactive. Of the 3,654 adults queried, 205 were employed in IT.
