IT jobs see 2.8% rise in compensation over year

Most IT positions saw an increase in compensation from February 2014 to February 2015, according to the MATRIX biannual March 2015 IT Salary Survey.

The national average increase in compensation for the top 20 IT jobs during this one-year period was 2.76%, the survey found. Of the markets analyzed, the San Francisco Bay Area saw the largest year-over-year jump in compensation with a 6.90% increase. Birmingham, Ala., also ranked high with a 5.98% increase.

The report found the senior-level position (with at least five years’ experience) with the highest compensation nationally at the 50th percentile was director of IT, at $138,448. Applications development manager and enterprise software architect followed, at $129,705 and $119,625 respectively.

MATRIX, a national IT staffing and IT professional services firm, partnered with online compensation data firm PayScale for the survey. PayScale algorithms analyze up to 100 comparable data points of individuals with similar attributes to create each profile.
