IT employee confidence up

July 24, 2009

The IT Employee Confidence Index increased 6.1 points to 45.8 in the second quarter of 2009, according to a recent survey commissioned by Technisource, the technology placement division of Spherion Corp. (NYSE: SFN). The survey, conducted by Harris Interactive, indicates that overall confidence levels among IT workers surveyed rebounded in the second quarter as a result of fewer workers believing the economy is getting weaker, and more workers reporting confidence in their personal employment situation.

Forty-eight percent of technology workers believe the economy is getting weaker, down 18 percentage points from the first quarter of 2009. Additionally, more technology workers are confident in their ability to find a new job, 40% versus 37% in the previous quarter. And 64% of workers are confident in the future of their current employers, compared to 58% in the first quarter of 2009.
