Hudson revenue rises 12%

Hudson Highland Group Inc.'s (NASD: HHGP) second-quarter revenue rose 12.1% to $195.0 million from $173.8 million in the second quarter of last year.

Second-quarter Americas revenue fell 5.4% year-over-year to $40.8 million at the New York-based professional staffing firm. However, Hudson Europe revenue rose 18.4% to $80.7 million and Australia and New Zealand revenue rose 15.2% to $65.2 million. In addition, Hudson Asia revenue rose 39.3% to $8.2 million.

Gross margin rose to 38.1% in the second quarter from 37.3% in the year-ago quarter.

Hudson posted second-quarter net income of $229,000 compared with a net loss of $17.8 million in the second quarter of 2009. The most-recent quarter included $551,000 in business reorganization and integration expenses compared with the year-ago quarter, which included $3.6 million in business reorganization and integration expenses and $1.5 million in goodwill and other impairment charges.

The company forecast third-quarter revenue of $190 million to $200 million, up 12.0% to 17.9% on a year-over-year basis.
