HIM Connections Inc., a recruitment and staffing firm specializing in health information management, acquired The Coding Center LLC to form a new entity operating as HIM Connections LLC. The Coding Center, a division of Doozer Software Inc., is a specialty outsourced remote coding services company. Both companies are based in Birmingham, Ala., and provide clinical coding and HIM services.

The deal closed in April and terms were not disclosed.

“Our companies recognize the enormous staffing needs associated with the implementation of ICD-10; even as organizations already struggle to find qualified coding talent,” said HIM Connections CEO Kayce Dover. “The synergies between the two companies made it a great opportunity to come together and serve our clients with a broader blend of services.”

The Coding Center’s executives will remain with HIM Connections.

“It’s a small firm; it wasn’t top heavy,” said Beth  Friedman, media representative for HIM Connections.
