Demand increased for human resources professionals who have social media skills, according to a new analysis of online job advertisements by research firm Wanted Analytics.

More than 1,000 new online job ads for human resources professionals placed over the last 90 days called for social media skills, a 160 percent increase over the same period in 2010, Wanted reported today.

Occupations that most commonly called for social medial skills were recruiters and training specialists.

The five metropolitan areas with the highest demand for human resource professionals with social medial skills included New York, Washington, Boston, Chicago and Philadelphia.
