Cromsource, a Verona, Italy-based company that provides staffing research services, announced Friday the acquisition of Pleiad, a contract research organization (CRO) with offices in Cambridge, Mass. and Stirling, Scotland. Financial terms were not available.

“We are delighted to welcome Pleiad and its expert team,” said Oriana Zerbini, chief executive officer of Cromsource. “For some time we have wanted to expand and consolidate our presence in the U.S. and we have now found the perfect way to do so.”

Pleiad was launched in 1999, supporting clients in multiple therapy areas and with dedicated medical device and ophthalmology divisions. Helen Colquhoun, former president of Pleiad, will become senior vice president of Cromsource Inc.
