Executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles International Inc. (NASD: HSII) announced it placed two top executives at government-sponsored mortgage company Freddie Mac over the past three months.

The executives include Freddie Mac CEO Charles "Ed" Haldeman Jr. and Chief Operating Officer Bruce Witherell.

Haldeman was formerly chairman of Putnam Investment Management LLC. Witherell formerly served as managing director at Morgan Stanley.
