The U.S. Census Bureau's new Baltimore Data Capture Center in Essex MD will hire 2,500 to 3,000 temporary workers starting September 2009 for the 2010 Census, contractors Lockheed Martin and CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced Monday.

Falls Church VA-based CSC will manage the center and the hiring efforts for the temporary workers.

According to the firms, 30% of the subcontract value is targeted for small businesses.
