Census: Q2 Staffing Revenue Up 7%

September 08, 2011

The U.S Census Bureau reported today that second-quarter revenue in the U.S. employment services industry rose 7.4 percent on a seasonally adjusted year-over-year basis. The bureau estimated the industry generated $57.14 billion in the second quarter of 2011 on a seasonally adjusted basis, up from $53.21 billion in the year-ago quarter.

However, revenue edged down 0.3 percent from the first-quarter estimate of $57.34 billion.

The employment services category measured by the bureau includes employment placement agencies, executive search firms, temporary employment agencies and professional employer organizations.

Census estimates of staffing industry revenue differ from other estimates. Staffing Industry Analysts, in its most recent estimate released earlier this year, projected staffing industry revenue would grow 12 percent in 2011.
