Canadian staffing index rises four points

September 20, 2010

The Canadian staffing index, a measure of temporary staffing in Canada, rose to a reading of 89 in August -- up four points from July and the strongest showing in 20 months, according to the Association of Canadian Search, Employment and Staffing Services.

Growth in August and expected growth in September follow seasonal patterns with students leaving the marketplace and the need for replacement staff, according to ACSESS. This is also the beginning of the busy logistics period leading up to Christmas.

The index is based on a benchmark score of 100 in July 2008. The index is produced by ACSESS in conjunction with Staffing Industry Analysts.
