July 16, 2010

Canada's composite leading index rose 1.0% in June with growth in manufacturing, Statistics Canada reported today.

The agency also revised upward gains in April and May to 1.1% in each month.

New orders for durable goods rose 2.3% in June. Statistics Canada also reported the average workweek in manufacturing registered its third month of large increases but has not yet resulted in more factory jobs. An increase in business spending did bring more jobs in businesses services.
