Austria – Views on temporary staffing improving

21 April 2015

Views on temporary staffing in Austria are improving, with only 8% of hiring managers believing that workers only resort to temporary work because they can’t find a permanent job, according to research from recruitment firm Robert Half, reports derstandard.at.

The research, in which 100 HR managers from Austria participated, also found that companies are increasingly recruiting temporary workers in skilled positions; dispelling the myth that temporary workers are predominately used to fill unskilled roles.

Just under half (46%) of hiring managers valued permanent and temporary work experience equally. With 41% stating that temporary work was sometimes viewed as an advantage because candidates had some prior industry knowledge.

Eight-out-of-10 hiring managers believe that temporary and contract workers will continue to play a major role in their company. Unsurprisingly, the main reasons for this were increased flexibility and cost efficiency due to seasonal or production-related changes in staffing requirements.
