Allied Healthcare revenue rises 2.4%

Allied Healthcare International Inc. (NASD: AHCI) said revenue rose 2.4% in its fiscal fourth quarter ended Sept. 30 to $75.0 million. The healthcare staffing company, which does most of its business in the United Kingdom, said fourth-quarter revenue rose 8.8% in constant currency.

The company's homecare staffing revenue rose by 16.0% in constant currency to $60.9 million; its nursing home staffing revenue fell by 9.0% to $10.4 million. It said hospital staffing revenue fell 10.5% to $8.3 million.

Fourth-quarter gross margin (not on a constant currency basis) slipped to 30.6% from 31.0%.

Fourth-quarter net income fell 95.3% to $2.9 million. However, the fourth quarter of last year included $59.9 million in income from discontinued operations.

Full-year revenue rose 7.5% to $298.6 million. On a constant currency basis, revenue increased 7.3%.

Full-year gross margin improved to 30.3% from 30.2%. Net income fell 86.8% to $8.8 million as the previous year included $62.7 million in income from discontinued operations.
