Allegis buying Albany managed services

March 17, 2010

Allegis Group Services struck a deal to acquire the managed services operations of The Albany Group.

Albany originally established its managed services operations for U.K. contractors working in Germany; Albany later expanded the operations across Europe and into Asia, the U.S., South America, Africa and Australia.

"Albany has always been a trusted and strategic partner to us with their payrolling and [independent contractor] compliance solutions extending our level of service to current customers," said Chris Hartman, Allegis Group Services president. "This relationship will not change. Bringing their managed services solutions together with ours deepens and expands our scope and coverage in the global marketplace."

The Albany Group's U.K. operations had been suspended in February after banking difficulties arose, although its U.S. operations, which used a different bank, continued. An administrator in the U.K. is in the process of selling portions of Albany.

In addition to managed services, Albany also provides payrolling services and independent contractor compliance services.

"With the inevitable split of our payroll and compliance business from our MSP division, we are pleased our MSP colleagues have found such a suitable home at Allegis Group Services to allow companies to benefit from their dedication and global expertise," Allegis reported an unidentified Albany representative as saying. "Albany US will now revert to our core competencies of payroll and compliance, and we look forward to continuing to support Allegis MSP programs where needed."
