ASA staffing index rises from year ago

February 24, 2010

Staffing employment in February was 10% higher than the same month last year, according to the American Staffing Association's staffing index.

The index rose to a level of 80 in February from a level of 73 in February 2009. The index is also up from January's reading of 79.

The index measures changes in the number of temporary and contract workers, both weekly and monthly. The monthly measure is taken from the week containing the 12th of the month. Its baseline value of 100 was set in June 2006.
