State lawmakers propose legislation to curb healthcare staffing prices (Kaiser Health News)

After demand for travel nurses surged to unprecedented levels during the Covid-19 pandemic, at least a dozen states have proposed regulations to prevent healthcare staffing agencies from substantially raising prices during a declared emergency, Kaiser Health News reported. Since no substantial federal action has occurred, states are trying to take the next step. However, the resulting regulatory patchwork could pose challenges to hospitals in those states with rate caps or other restrictive measures.
