World Employment Confederation reelects Bettina Schaller as president

September 18, 2023

Staffing executive Bettina Schaller was reelected as president of the World Employment Confederation, the organization representing the staffing industry on the global level. Schaller was voted in during the WEC members’ General Assembly on Sept. 14.

Schaller, who is head of global public affairs at The Adecco Group, has served as president of WEC for three years after having been a board member and president of WEC-Europe for the past decade.

“I strongly believe in our industry and the solutions that we bring in times when labor markets face such profound transformations,” Schaller said in a press release. “I am looking forward to building on the solid foundations that we have laid collectively over the past years and to accelerate our efforts to further increase our impact.”

Schaller appeared on SIA’s Global Power 150 — Women in Staffing list last year.

The WEC also reelected Charles Cameron as VP and Bart van Kempen as second VP.

Cameron was reelected to the VP role and has been on the WEC’s board since 2016; he also chaired the National Federations Committee. Cameron is CEO of the Recruitment, Consulting and Staffing Association of Australia and New Zealand.

“The World Employment Confederation brings together voices from all around the world,” Cameron said. “This diversity is invaluable to find innovative solutions to our common challenges, and I am very much committing my second mandate to better showcase all those different perspectives. Together we can change the world!”

Van Kempen has been a board member since 2020. He is general counsel for Northern Europe at ManpowerGroup.

“I am keen to support the World Employment Confederation’s efforts in helping policymakers to define the right solutions for the challenges that the world of work currently faces,” van Kempen said. “Work can have such a profound impact on a person’s life and our industry is instrumental in providing access to work and (re)development of skills.”

The WEC also announced that Ann Cattelain of Federgon in Belgium was reelected as treasurer; Lohit Bhatia of the Indian Staffing Federation was reelected as regional representative APAC Southern; and Menno Bart of The Adecco Group was reelected as representative of the corporate member.

In addition, Han Oey was elected to the board as the representative of corporate member RGF Staffing. And Geraldine King, Alfred Budschitz and Florian Swyter saw their board terms extended until December, when another election will take place to determine the board membership.
