Most workers are excited about AI, but they have their concerns, according to a global survey by LinkedIn. A majority of respondents, 84%, believe AI will help their career progression, but 49% are worried they should know more about AI than they do. 

Nine out of 10 professionals said they are excited about AI, and 45% said AI will make their jobs easier. 

Free time was also cited as a positive with 45% saying they will use AI to improve work-life balance, 39% planning to use it to learn new skills and 44% say AI will let them focus on tasks they enjoy more. 

On the flip side, a third of workers are worried about falling behind on AI at work and 56% say they don’t know how to use AI at work. In addition, 39% are feeling overwhelmed by the amount of change AI may bring. 

LinkedIn’s survey also found that some have already started using AI with 46% of global professionals saying this is the case. And 36% are testing generative AI tools like ChatGPT. 

Already, LinkedIn noted job postings that talk about GPT or ChatGPT have soared, increasing 21 times since November 2022. LinkedIn Learning has also seen a 65% year-over-year increase in learning hours for its top 100 AI-related courses. 

LinkedIn’s survey took place in August and included 29,000 professionals from the UK, US, Canada, Australia, Singapore, India, France, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Italy, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and Japan.
