The number of women in the truck transportation industry hit 1.6 million in October, a record number, Quartz reported. Women represent 18% of the trucking industry workforce. Women’s numbers in trucking are on the rise as the industry struggles to fill open positions, but the industry remain male-dominated and bias remains in some cases. Burnout in the healthcare sector is one reason fueling the increase of women in trucking.
