The forecast US recession is yet to appear even as inflation has slowed significantly and the jobs market remains strong, The New York Times reported. That may lead some to think a soft landing is in sight; however, there is still a lot that can go wrong. “The chances of a soft landing are higher — there’s no question about that,” Diane Swonk, chief economist at KPMG US, told the Times. “I’m more optimistic than I was six months ago: That’s the good news.”
