Upwork revenue rises 10.8% in Q3, results beat guidance

Talent platform Upwork Inc. (NASDAQ: UPWK) reported third-quarter revenue rose 10.8% year over year, beating guidance.

“In the third quarter of 2023, Upwork continued to drive durable, profitable growth while advancing our position as the world’s work marketplace,” the company said in a shareholder letter. “We achieved better-than-expected results across our financial goals, generating third-quarter 2023 revenue of $175.7 million, up 11% from a year ago.”

Upwork also announced it was increasing its full-year guidance. Revenue is now set to rise to between $680 million and $685 million — an increase of 10% at the midpoint. The company previously forecast full-year revenue of between $665 million and $675 million, an increase of 8% at the midpoint.

For the fourth quarter, Upwork forecast revenue of between $175 million and $180 million, also an increase of 10% at the midpoint.

The company ranks as the world’s largest talent platform in terms of gross spend volume, according to research by SIA.

Shares in Upwork were up 11.43% to $13.40 as of 1:04 p.m. Eastern time; they were 15.6% below their 52-week high, according to FT.com.
