Upcoming college grads, on average, expect a salary of $47,562 at their first jobs after college, but recruiters surveyed expect on average to pay entry-level employees $56,155, according to a report by iCIMS Inc., a recruitment software firm based in Holmdel, New Jersey.
The report is based on a survey of 500 US college seniors and 500 recruiters and human resources professionals. It also includes data points from the company’s platform.
It also found 44% of male upcoming graduates expect to earn between $50,000 and $74,999 at their first job. However, only 31% of female upcoming graduates expect to earn a salary in that range.
“It is evident that employers are feeling the pressure of a tight labor market and are ready to offer college graduates a competitive salary,” Chief Marketing Officer Susan Vitale said. “Beyond compensation, employers can also stand out through robust training and development programs and by delivering a strong candidate experience.”
