Uber independent contractor ruling could have wider impact (Crain’s New York Business)

A judge’s ruling last week that Uber should have classified three former drivers as employees instead of independent contractors could have a wider impact on employers, Crain’s New York Business reported. “This has to be making these other companies nervous," David Weisenfeld, a professor at the Cardozo School of Law, told the publication. “They’ve always known this is a vulnerability, and when a ruling goes against Uber they have to take a look at how they deal with their people.”
