UK judge rules Uber drivers entitled to workers’ rights (The Associated Press)

November 10, 2017

A British judge ruled Friday that two Uber drivers were not independent contractors, upholding a lower panel’s decision that they were workers who should receive minimum wage and paid holidays, The Associated Press reported. The case could be heard by higher courts as early as next year. While Uber argues the case applies to only two drivers, thousands of Uber drivers in the UK could argue they deserve the same status, according to the AP report. Separately, TheStreet reported Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in his first public interview that the company plans to go public in 2019.
