The Planet Group, a Chicago-based staffing firm, acquired Future State Consulting, a Tigard, Oregon-based IT staffing and consulting provider.

The acquisition will enable The Planet Group to expand its current technology portfolio through niche consulting services.

Their industry-leading capabilities in digital transformation are an important step forward in Planet’s technology consulting growth plan,” said Tim Simmerly, president of The Planet Group. “Future State not only aligns with the firm’s technology expertise, but it also matches with Planet’s culture that is driven by an entrepreneurial spirit.”

Future State Consulting was founded in 2012 by Dann Black and Harrison Bishop.

“Joining The Planet Group has given us a partner that shares our same ideologies to the core,” Bishop said.

As part of the deal, Future State Consulting will join forces with Planet Group’s Strive Consulting and Launch Consulting Group, which specialize in digital transformation, digital strategy, data and analytics, technology enablement, cybersecurity and compliance and management consulting.

Earlier this month, The Planet Group announced the acquisition of Launch Consulting Group, a Seattle-based provider of professional expertise and recruiting services.
