Temporary, contract staffing employment up 1.3% over year: ASA staffing index

June 26, 2018

Temporary and contract staffing employment was 1.3% higher for the week of June 11 to June 17 than the same week last year, according to the American Staffing Association’s staffing index. Some survey respondents cited temp-to-hire conversions as a factor that hindered further growth.

Month-over-month, the ASA Staffing Index edged up 0.6% to a rounded value of 98 for the week. This marks the strongest reading for this particular week since 2007, right before the Great Recession.

The index’s four-week moving average edged up but remained at a rounded figure of 97, reaching the highest level in 11 years for the same period. Year over year, the four-week average rose 1.3%.
