Temp staffing revenue rises median 21% year over year in August: Pulse Report

September 28, 2022

Temporary staffing revenue rose a median 21% year over year in August among firms taking part in Staffing Industry Analysts’ Pulse Survey. That’s in line with the 21% median year-over-year growth in the previous Pulse Survey, which was based on data from June.

Travel nurse staffing continued to show strong growth in August with revenue up a median 65% year over year. Segments with the next-strongest growth included allied healthcare, up 25%; marketing/creative, up 15%; and IT, up 13%.

No staffing segment recorded a negative year-over-year change in revenue in August. However, all staffing segments — with the exceptions of legal, marketing/creative and engineering — decelerated on a median basis from the previous survey.

There were 146 staffing companies reporting August data for the latest Pulse Survey. The survey is conducted every other month.

A report that includes selected highlights from the Pulse survey is available to corporate members of SIA; the full Pulse report itself is available only to companies that took part in the survey. The full 34-page report contains insights on trends in revenue, bill rates, orders, gross margins, recruiting/sales difficulty and a six-month outlook for each staffing skill segment.
