August 03, 2021

Temporary staffing revenue rose a median 32% year over year in June among the 142 staffing firms taking part in Staffing Industry Analysts’ Pulse survey. June’s increase is in line with the same 32% median year-over-year increase in May.

Travel nursing continued its historic run and again led the way in terms of median revenue growth with an increase of 95%, up from 85% in the survey covering May. June revenue was up median 42% in allied healthcare, 32% in per diem and 21% in locum tenens.

The industrial sector reported the highest growth among non-healthcare staffing firms, with median year-over-year revenue growth of 25%; marketing/creative and IT followed at 23% and 18% respectively. Direct hire revenue was up 55%.

No segments reported negative median year-over-year changes in revenue.

The latest Pulse survey also asked firms, “Do you have clients that are requiring or expressing a preference to have temporary workers that are vaccinated for Covid-19? If so, how is your staffing firm handling these cases?” Of the 54 firms that answered the question, 48% of firms indicated that clients were expressing such requirements/preferences at the moment.
